Lincoln Poster Series
A series of posters inspired by imagery, designs, and architectural themes found in Lincoln Nebraska’s Capital building. These posters were meant to be inspirational and show off the overall aesthetic of Lincoln, Nebraska. I gathered themes that I thought best represented Lincoln and would work best in the series. I wanted to highlight some of Lincolns agricultural past while shining a light on our growth and future as a community.
The poster on the left, Unity, is about the unified process of pollination. Both the bee and the flower benefit from it. The middle poster, Grow, is the personification of Lincoln, a Mother Nature themed character. It highlights our growth as a city while giving a nod to our past. The right poster, adapt, is of a butterfly breaking out of its cacoon, transformed. All of these things I believe showed not only Lincoln’s beauty but its overall strength.

unite
This poster was about unity. Lincoln is a very caring town with a lot of friendly people. My imagery is of the process of pollination, where both the bee and the flower benefit from it. The town of Lincoln has benefited throughout the years through unity. The University of Nebraska, Lincoln is right off of downtown Lincoln which brings a lot of profit to the businesses in the downtown area and has lead to much growth.
grow
This poster was about growth. I spoke a little bit about it in my last paragraph, but Lincoln has grown so much throughout the years. Lincoln like most towns in the Midwest started as a small agricultural settlement. while there is still plenty of agriculture in Lincoln it has grown to be an expanding city, from: the University of Lincoln, to new tech developments, and overall its population growth.
The imagery in this one was heavily inspired by what I found in the capital. The background I took straight from the capital, I found on a random door handle (the image is at the bottom of the page) with an engraving on it of a pattern that reminded me of a flower. The woman is a fictional character I created to be the physical embodiment of Lincoln. I wanted her to look Native American because Lincoln has a lot of Native heritage woven into its fabric. Lastly I had this whole poster framed as an ear of corn to give a subtle nod to our start as an agricultural town.
adapt
I’ve already talked plenty about Lincoln’s growth as a town so I won’t go too into detail with this one. For this final poster I have an image of a caterpillar that just burst from its cocoon as a butterfly. Caterpillars are one of the most interesting creatures because they are one of the only ones that truly and fully physically adapt to something greater. I believe that Lincoln as a town has done this. It has burst from its cocoon and has become much more than the small farm town it once was.
