Starboy
This project is a visual story of the album “Starboy” by The Weeknd. This album was one of the first I had ever listened to and it will always hold a special place in my heart. This album has a specific style that I loved. Visually I loved the bright neon colors contrasted by the harsh blacks. I felt the visual aesthetics of Starboy really complimented the auditory sound. I’ve loved this album from the first time I listened to it in high school in 2018.
The Full Project
For this project I wanted to tell my perception of the album’s story. I thought the best way to tell the story of this album was through a comic book like style. I chose a comic book style not only because it is an effective way of storytelling, but also because I thought the overall comic style worked aesthetically with the album.
Comics have an ink layer base that they color from which would allow me to have the neon colors while also having those harsh blacks to contrast it.
